About Our Program

Bridging Life Sciences and Computational Biology at Chulalongkorn University

2 Programs 44+ Faculty Est. 2010

Overview

The Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Ph.D. and M.Sc. programs at Chulalongkorn University provide an interdisciplinary learning and research environment for collaboration between life science researchers and computational scientists. The curriculum is designed to address different backgrounds in life science and computer science. Our courses and research are taught and supervised by outstanding faculty members who are at the forefront of research in the fields. The Omics Science and Bioinformatics Center provides excellent facilities for students to develop advanced knowledge and skills.

Philosophy

The programs focus on preparing quality researchers and experts in bioinformatics and computational biology. Graduates will be able to analyze, discuss, and synthesize knowledge in the field — which is essential for current biological research and contributes to the foundation for national development in the new era.

Importance of the Program

Research in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology is essential for medicine, agriculture, and industry, and contributes to economic growth. Thailand must prepare for rapid advancement in this field while leveraging its diverse biological resources.

At present, Thailand lacks experts with high-level knowledge and skills in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. Chulalongkorn University — an institute of academic excellence — offers these programs as an interdisciplinary initiative under the Graduate School, with cooperative management from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science.

Our Mission

To advance bioinformatics and computational biology through excellence in education, research, and innovation — preparing students to become leaders in academia, industry, and healthcare.
