Research Overview

Abiotic stresses, including drought, salt, heat and cold stresses, can cause the reduction of crop yield. In Thailand, rice is one of the major important crops that has to face strong abiotic stresses, especially, drought and salt stresses as the unique and important export rice cultivar, ‘Khao Dawk Mali105’ rice, is grown in rain-fed area in the northeastern part of Thailand, where the soil has high salinity level Our research team is focus on the study of the mechanisms in salt and drought resistance in rice by using the combination of whole plant physiology, molecular biology and omic studies, including genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics. Moreover, we are also interested in the investigation of chitosan-plant responding mechanisms as it can stimulate plant growth and induce abiotic stress resistance when it is used properly. Genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic approaches are used to investigate this question.
