Research Overview
My research expertise lies at the intersection of molecular biology, parasitology, and virology, with a specialized focus on (1) the molecular epidemiology of zoonotic malaria. Our team focuses on investigations on host-pathogen interactions, specifically evaluating malaria susceptibility in macaque populations using the genetic and genomic tools. In addition, the advance genomic tools such as Illumina sequencing and Oxford Nanopore, are now readily applied to investigate the fundamental concept of parasitic and viral diseases.
Currently Recruiting Students
(1) Molecular and evolutionary analysis of the mitochondrial genomes of the simian malaria parasites (in corroboration with a team at Veterinary sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand); (2) Development of the molecular assays for rapid detection of avian pathogens (in corroboration with a team at Mahidol University, Thailand)
